Pinto/Refried Beans from scratch?
I am looking for a recipe on how to cook dried pinto beans in a crock pot? I have soaked and soaked them and want to stick them in the crock pot and mush them into a refried consistency. I just don't know what to add to them to give them some flavor. I am two weeks out and on pureed food.
Thank you!

You dont really got to do a lot to make refried beans. put them in the pot add water and set on low over night. as far as taste.. some people will put some bacon in there or a ham hock.. but it is not necessary. I will put a little seasoning in mine like garlic salt and pepper but thats about it. when they get soft enough.. take themout and smush them up. hope that helps.. i make them all the time.. really really easy to make.
The way I love to make them is after the beans are cooked, drain them and heat up a frying pan. Melt some butter(cut with olive oil if you want to use minimal butter) sautee thinly sliced garlic, chopped onions, chili powder and cumin powder. Add in the beans and cook for a little bit then mush them in the pan. Turn off the heat and mix in some shredded cheese. Salt and pepper to taste but careful because the cheese is salty. Once you are able to eat vegetables, it is great with pico de gallo and lite sour cream on top.
For your refried beans, they taste wonderful if u add a little shredded cheese to them. Also to help you along, once they have gotten soft, you can put them in a blender and add a dash of milk and that will make them to a more smooth mixture..I love refried beans, i eat them daily now..so hope that helps, if you need any other ideas please feel free to contact me..

Im sure since it has been a month you probably have already made the beans LOL but I figured since I ran across this in a post from a long time ago I would post it
Refried beans are simple to make when cooked in a slow cooker. This recipe will yield flavorful, fat-free refried beans seasoned with garlic, jalapeno, and cumin."
Serves: 15 (change) Hands-on Time: 15 Minutes Total Time: 8 Hours 15 Minutes
What you need:
1 onion, peeled and halved
3 cups dry pinto beans, rinsed
1/2 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
2 tablespoons minced garlic
5 teaspoons salt
1 3/4 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cumin, optional
9 cups water
What you do:
Place the onion, rinsed beans, jalapeno, garlic, salt, pepper, and cumin into a slow cooker. Pour in the water and stir to combine. Cook on High for 8 hours, adding more water as needed. Note: if more than 1 cup of water has evaporated during cooking, then the temperature is too high.
Once the beans have cooked, strain them, and reserve the liquid. Mash the beans with a potato masher, adding the reserved water as needed to attain desired consistency.
