low cal latte or ?
Deb,
My favorite recipe for SF Vanilla Latte is to drive to Starbucks! LOL! I wish there was a recipe out there, I've been looking also! I even went to Starbucks and tried to schmooze the recipe out of them... lol! Anyway, good luck in your search! If I find anything I'll let you know, you do the same please!
Take care!
The closest thing I've done [minus going to starbucks!] was buy some SF Vanilla Syrup [Davinci or Torani] pour a 1/2 cup in the bottom of my coffee pot. Then make coffee as usual. After its brewed, I just add Non Fat Milk, Splenda, and ice. You can also sprinkle a little cocoa or cinnamon to the coffee grounds while its brewing too. That adds some flavor.
Good luck!
i make my own, i buy the coffee beans and SF syrup at Starbucks and brew my own shots of espresso. when i want them iced i pour a double shot of espresso over ice cubes in a shaker and shake it till cold. then i take a tall glass filled with ice, put three pumps of SF vanilla syrup in the bottom, then 4 ounces of 2% milk and then pour the cold espresso over it. it looks nice in the glass the way it's layered and it sort of mixes itself up as i drink it. When i want to get decadent i used half and half instead of milk. it's more calories and fat but less carbs and it satisfies my dessert cravings.
ya know the whole "low carb thing" about how fat satisfies but carbs cause cravings? i figure it fits with that.
usually i buy it at Starbucks. I don't actually use their espresso but get the Italian Roast and use an espresso grind (it's much finer than regular drip coffee). Or i order it online from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters which is my favorite but in a pinch i do buy it at the grocery store. Usually i'll get the Starbucks Espresso at the groceries but when i was in Florida i would buy the Cuban brands. They were cheaper but already ground and weren't as good, but they sufficed.
Remember you can use ANY coffee beans and grind them for espresso. As a matter of fact in Italy they use a much lighter roast for espresso than we do here in the US so you might just want to get a regular roast of coffee and just grind it for espresso. Experiment and find what works best for you.
