Hi Denise. I had surgery one year before you on 6/22/06! Congrats! I would say to start out slow - usually something like a scrambled egg with cheese. I do not know what is on your Dr approved list but I could have stuff like pintos and cheese (like from Taco Bell or get a can of refreid beans from the store and just add cheese) and tuna with some mustard or lite mayo. Also, get the chicken in the can with water (usually located beside the tuna) and you can blend that with some mustard or lite mayo and whatever spices (like garlic pepper). I lived on that chicken for a while. Also, try different yogurts that you may like and cottage cheese and even cream of wheat (or oatmeal) that you may like - just make sure you stick with oatmeals that do not have a lot of sugar. I know some people eat ricotta cheese with some spaghetti sauce on it. I know when you start out, variety will be the key so start slow and see what you like and just eat as much variety as you can so you do not get burned out to quick. Good luck with your weight loss!

Hi Denise, I had surgery the same day as you, but my surgeon has a different approach to eating so I've been on soft foods for a week already. Some things you might want to buy to keep on hand for when you start eating: Fat free or low fat cottage cheese Fat free or "lite" ricotta cheese Refried beans Reduced fat peanut butter Sugar free low fat yogurt Canned tuna in water Canned salmon (if you like salmon) Variety of different beans (lima, kidney, butter, pinto, etc) Light soy milk (if you like it) is great for mixing with protein powders for extra taste and protein. Good luck! Donna

Denise --- don't forget the Flav-or-ice SUGARFREE popcicles (pink box). I lived on those to get my fluids in for the first month or so. Now I have a HUGE amount of blue ones - I'd eat the red, the green, purple - but the blue ones I just don't like the taste - so of 15 boxes, I have at least sixty blue ones left over that no one will eat. Oy.
