Edamame

I am on a soft diet right now. I am 6 weeks post op. My nut said I can have beans. I asked her if I could have Edamame (soybeans) and she wasn't sure. I like to boil them and then just pop them in my mouth. I don't know the total protein yet, as I haven't gotten them yet. But, I buy them at Trader Joe's. As long as I chew them well, I don't see any problems. Can anyone suggest?

Be sure to chew well. I find edamame a little firmer than other beans. You could always take them out of the pod and mash them up like you would with garbanzo beans for hummus.

I eat them all the time! There is about 10grams of protein in about a half of a cup! You should be able to eat them, but becareful b/c they could cause gas. I would suggest overcooking them a bit. They are a great source of protein and fiber! Enjoy them! I always buy them at TJs as well!!!! Good luck!!!!
