2 months post op. I am growing weary of eating soft foods, specifically all the proteins required and am looking for a recipe to satisfy that effect that is a loss in my diet. I really miss foods that have a substantial crunch to them. I recognize that this was part of the bargain but I know there is someone out there that maybe feels the same way and has a great recipe to fill that void. Purees', lunchmeats, cottage cheeses, yogurts, etc., although are tolerable are so darn soft! !

Ok, this isn't a recipe, but give Dry Roasted Edamame a try. I buy it either at Trader Joes, or you can order it on-line at Amazon.com. 1/4 cup = 14 grams of protein and to me it's better than eating peanuts. In fact it's 70% less fat and 40% more protein than peanuts! I love the crunch, and this helps so much. Jan

Thanks Jan, you're a lifesaver! This sounds like the perfect snack to satisfy that void. I did do some research on the nutritional values and notice that I have to be discerning with some brands due to a higher fat content (some more than others.) Again, my sincerest thanks! Sharon

I totally forgot about those!! Thanks! Another one I like is dried soy beans... same thing with the fat content though.

Tooo Can't wait to try these, Jennifer! I love chick peas AND because I (and my family) now stay as far away from any Soy due to its anti-absorption side effects along with all else soy does, this is PERFECT! Can hardly wait to start experimenting, lol! I do believe this will very quickly become a family "staple" for snacking on!

I take soybeans and crushed them up in a zip lock bag and use them as bread crumbs on fish or chicken (prior to surgery)

I employ you all to simply Google - "Soy Warnings".... Ihave no doubts you too will cease consuming soy anything immediately, as we have! Best wishes if you don't though....
