Hi all I'm 14 days out of RNY and on a soft protein diet. The short list of what I can have is... cottage cheese (low-fat/nonfat) cheese (low-fat/nonfat, no cream cheese) yogurt (low sugar/low fat) eggs moist chicken/turkey (no skin, not fried) fish/seafood beans (cooked without fat, no baked or green beans) tofu (blech!) light mayo dried herbs/spices soy sauce olive, canola, and peanut oil I'm getting a little burned out on eating things by themselves - it's getting a little bland. Any ideas for creative recipes? Nicole

Hi Nicole...I made a Turkey chili with ground turkey you brown it up like you would ground beef and then I use the McCormicks Chili Seasoning packet and add in my favorite beans...and when it was done I added some LF cheese on top with some FF Sourcream...and my pouch was very happy...I do have to say tho...my surgeon was not happy...it said it was too much for the pouch...but I had no problems with it...I pureed it before I put the cheese and sourcream and it was the consistancy of baby food...but it will have flavor....if you would like email me thru the Personal Messages and I will send you some of the other recipes that I have... Here is my favorite...... Still eat it daily for lunch... 1 tub cottage cheese (great protein) 1 tub light whipped topping 1 box sf jello powder (rasberry and lime..are my favorites) 1 can sf crushed pineapple Mix together...refrigerate....... eat and enjoy (you can add some unflavored protein powder to it...just to kick up the protein a notch.....)

I like cottage cheese pancakes... 1/3 cup cottage cheese, 1/3 cup oatmeal (the real thing not instant), 1 egg..blend together (with a splash of milk/vanilla if you want) and cook on non-stick pan. They keep well in the fridge to reheat in microwave also. I put sf jam & whipped cream instead of syrup on them..yummm--they are my Sunday "treat" and still within my food plan On your chicken..use thighs--they're softer. Cook in crock pot for 8 hours on low (minimum time). You can put a can of italian tomatoes, can of low fat soup, etc with skinless, boneless thighs.. yummy.

I would have never thought of cottage cheese pancakes! Once I get the OK on a few of these things I'll give them a whirl. Thank you so much, Pat!

Hi Nicole, I'm 11 days out and on soft foods too. Yesterday I made the shrimp salad and vanilla egg custard in Susan Maria Leach's book Before and After. I pureed the shrimp salad. Both recipes are fabulous. I called my mother and told her she needed to give them a try. She is 7 yrs post-op. It's A Good Life! Lori
