I have been doing pretty good about eating and we have been invited to a New Year's party and will need to take some snacks. What are some good ideas for us WLS patients that would "look" the same to those who haven't had the surgery? Regina

Here is a recipe I copied from somewhere else on the boards (don't remember who to give credit to). I made a few changes to make it low-fat and super high-protein. Buffalo Chicken Dip 2 8 oz. packages fat free cream cheese, at room temperature 1 cup Frank's Red Hot Sauce 1 cup low fat shredded cheddar or colby cheese 2 10-11 oz cans of shredded chicken Preheat oven to 350. Put the cream cheese in the bottom of a 9 inch deep dish pie plate or other oven-proof dish (I make it in a 9 inch round Pampered Chef stoneware dish). Place in oven for a few minutes until it starts to melt. Mix in other ingredients, reserving 1/4 c of the shredded cheese to sprinkle on the top. Bake in oven for 20 mins or until the mixture is warm and bubbly. Serve with veggie sticks (carrots and celery) or even just eat with a spoon! I eat this as a meal, but it makes a great party snack. You could even bring tortilla chips and/or crackers for non-WLSers. Here are the stats for the entire recipe: 1,558 calories 22 grams of carbs 54 grams of fat 232 grams of protein 1/8th of the entire recipe has 195 calories, 7 grams of fat and 29 grams of protein. Of course, as a snack you won't be consuming 1/8th of the recipe! You could reduce the calories and fat even more if you used fat free cheddar cheese, but I would suggest at least using 1/4 c of the low-fat cheese on top (fat free cheese doesn't make a very good topping).
