on Dec. 3rd, I am going to a house party. Many people do not know I had surgery, and since it will only be about 6 weeks out when the party comes, I want to make/bring a wls friendly food, that I will be able to enjoy, along with the others. I should be on the way to the soft foods by then, as I am just starting puree. If you can recommend an appetizer, side dish, or meal, that would be great. It's an afternoon party, so picky food will probably be the menu of choice, besides maybe pizza or sandwiches.

I have always loved anything with cream cheese (or heck, even cream cheese by itself). My doctor allowed crackers on the soft diet, so if yours does also, I would make some sort of cream cheese spread and put it on those yummy club crackers, or some other kind that aren't too crunchy. If you can't eat the crackers, just bite off the cream cheese and quietly dispose of the crackers. No one will be the wiser. You can do that with dips and chips, too. I bet you find several things there that you can eat, but don't get crazy. Remember, having fun with your friends isn't about the food any longer, it's about the friends. Go, have a great time!! Your new life is just beginning and it is going to be an amazing ride.

Just wondering what other responses you have gotten. I know I posted on the main board to you but now I can not find it. Where did it go?????

I make a dip, that good with crackers and WL friendly for those on soft, PKG Low Fat Creme Cheese 1 can of Salmon( could use chicken or turkey too) 1/2 tsp onion powder I run the salmon thru the food processor, then creme together the salmon and cremem cheese add the onion powder and chill, serve with cracker when your party starts, You will want it to set out for 1/2 before so it soft. Hope this is some help, search thru the recipes here and you will probally find more then you need. Kaye

My daughter loves cream cheese and that really thin ham, you could mix some chopped chives with the cream cheese and wrap the ham around that and make little rolls then slice them thin to make pinwheels. You could use powdered onion and garlic instead of fresh to give it some flavor. By using the ham or turkey you get double protein. Good luck Marylin
