I posted this on the main forum but thought this might be a better spot. I am following my doctors post-op diet and as I get to try new things like low fat yogurt he suggested and low sugar instand maple oatmeal, the sweetners is all I can taste. Two part question. Does this change after a while and second is there a good place for receipies where I can take plain low sugar oatmeal and yogurt, for example, and add ingredients to make them taste good? I am 5 days post-op open RNY. Thanks, Jim

my dr will let us add splenda to anything. But Splenda does have kinda aftertaste with it...........but you can also try adding different extracts with your foods to see if that gives it different tastes also.

Hey Jim, I eat the plain oatmeal and add sugar free maple syrup (Mrs. Butterworths) to it with a little splenda brown sugar....or sometimes a little strawberry jam (of course the no added sugar kind) and I usually add a little milk. Good luck!

Hello Jim, I wanted to let you know that I was the EXACT same way; I could NOT tolorate the SF popsicles and crystal light after surgery, I syill haven't tried them yet & three months out now. But I have found that I can tolorate things sooo much better. I would gag on the SMELL of Splenda or even looking at a Splenda package, then I thought maybe it was the maltodextrin in foods, so I would stay away from anything with Maltodextrin in it.(ie. sf popsicles & some yogurt) As far as wht would be good for you to eat I couldn't even tell you, I was only drinking water after I was released from the hospital; But then again my diet plan was and still is VERY restricted; but I told my surgeon that I am NOT using his diet plan, as you can see from this board all surgeons are different. Not like I can eat alot anyway! Good Luck!!
