I am doing up some meatballs in my crockpot for a get together and want to cook them in a barbecue sauce, not too spicy, more hickory or sweet...but I want it to be low carb so I can enjoy some too! Anyone have a great recipe for this??

It is not really a recipe but I use a really good BBQ sauce on most of my meat (it is about the only way I can get some of it down). The name of it is KC Masterpeice and it is called Low Calorie Classic Blend. The serving size is 2 TBSP, 10 calories, 0 fat, 2 carb and 0 protien. There are 14 servings in a bottle so the WHOLE bottle has 28 carbs in it. It has a really good taste and is about the only BBQ sauce I have ever found that does not have sugar in it. Hope that helps!

This is my favorite barbeque sauce recipe from my pre-WLS days. Its chocked full of onion and garlic bits that give it lots of flavor. It is adapted for post-WLS life from a recipe that once appeared in a Williams Sonoma cookbook. Keep in mind that the ketchup in this recipe has some sugar in it. However, I have reduced the sugar content from the original recipe by substituting Splenda that measures like sugar. If you're cooking over a fire or charcoal, you'll want to add this sauce in the last five minutes so that the sugar content in the ketchup doesn't burn. 2 Tbs. olive oil 1 onion, finely minced 6 garlic cloves, minced 1 1/2 cups ketchup 1/2 cup cider vinegar 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1/3 cup Splenda that measures like sugar 1 Tbs. chili powder 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper, or as needed

Using the Heinz One-Carb ketchup would lower the carb count even further. This sounds yummy. I love homemade BBQ sauce. Thanks! Laura 381/286/175
