Topic: Feel restriction?
I'm researching both bands. I prefer the safety profile and port of realize, but I've read the several people who are near full on their fills, don't feel much restriction. Possibly because realize is low pressure?

Any thoughts or experiences?

Haha, I was wondering the same thing! I used to come to OH every spare second I had when I was newly banded, but dropped away after it got mean and testy over at the LapBand forum. I logged on last night for the first time in ages after seeing the news about Gov Christie...

Anyway, I am doing great. 3.5 years out. No complication to speak of and down almost 1/3 of my initial body weight. Living life and feeling great!

I have never been able to tell a difference at all after doing lots of reading and asking. I think they are the same thing, just manufactured by a different company. My surgeon only used the Realize Band, but he promised it was not because it was "better or worse" it was just the contract the hospital had. Good luck with whatever choice you make!

Sorry I don't have Cigna, you could try calling your insurance.

Wow, my surgeon requires annual follow ups. I will be five years post surgery in Sept. and I just had a fill last Friday. I still see my surgeon 2-3 times per year but I am closely monitored because I have had 2 major complications. They can definitely give you a fill but they might want to do testing or xrays to make sure nothing else is wrong first (think band migration) or as in my case, hypothyroidism.

I am sorry you had such a horrible experience with the band. I think your doctor jumped the gun with 7.5 ccs or maybe the band was too tight at installing surgery. At any rate, good luck with your future plans and your health.

I have had the realize band since 2008. Sorry I haven't logged on the site in over a year, don't know what made me think of it today. I have lost about 100 pounds net and yo-yoed some. My largest loss was 130 and I am working hard to get straightened out again. I just got a fill on Friday so I am currently 7.0 ccs I would love to get back under the 200 pound mark before my surgery anniversary in Sept.

My surgeon said he didn't know until he had me under during surgery. It depends on the size and shape of your stomach. My understanding is the lapband is larger and holds more CCs. I was given the realize band. As best I know, they both function the same.

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be getting a band, but wonder what one to get? Realize? Or Lapband?
