Topic: RE: Realize Band
My process took me over a year but it is not like that for everyone. I am recommend that you either call your insurance company and find out EXACTLY what they require or you work with the insurance coordinator in your office very closely.
I have PPO Blue and I had to have 6 months of a physician assisted diet, a psych eval, an EGD, a CXR, a cardiac eval, an EcG, and a ton of blood work.
Also, if you can, make sure you do your weight checks with your surgeon's office. My family doc was all for my surgery and was willing to do my weigh ins and then could not get me seen some months. So I got weighed monthly Apr '11. May '11 June '11, Aug '11, Sep '11, Nov '11 all to get ready for my surgery which I was hoping for in December. NOPE.... because we missed July and October we had to put it off.
Then I started doing my checks in the surgeon's office. Because of my job I have a pretty narrow window of time where I can take off so I was shooting for the first week in June.
The surgeon's office made darn sure I got in to see someone at least once a month. In fact, I had a 4 pound GAIN in April (where I burst into tears and cried for 8 solid hours but that's another post lol) so they scheduled me for 3 weeks out instead of a whole month for the next check because they thought my gain had something to do with being a female (hint hint) and what do you know? I was down 12 pounds in 3 weeks!!!
I didn't quite make my 1st week of June window but my date is the 27th. I ALREADY feel like it has been worth the hassle.

Topic: RE: Too tight with no fill
He does fluoro and he said the band did not slip. Never heard anything about being tight from dehydration. Interesting.

I saw your post and did a little research. Now, I have not had my band done yet so I cannot even imagine what you are going through but I thought I would try to help.
What I have been reading said that sometimes you get too tight if you are not hydrated enough.
Did your doc even scope you to check your band because the other thing I have seen was that those symptoms can be caused by band slippage! I would definitely get another opinion.

Topic: Surgery Date
I have completely forgotten to mention in my previous posts! I actually have a surgery date. June 27th is my new Birth/Band day! I am so excited and strangely not at all afraid. I trust my surgeon and I am just excited to be proactive for once. I am actually more afraid of the 6 day pre op liver reduction diet lol.
My husband has some fears of his own but I am hopefully reassuring him. I am a nurse so hospitals don't scare me like they do some others.
I found on another website this wonderful "Before you go to the hospital" list and it is giving me an excuse to go shopping lol.
Anyone have any suggestions about things I might want to have handy at the house for when I come home from the hospital? The list I found suggested:
Liquid Tylenol (they make adult strength)
Chewable or liquid gas-x
Gauze Pads 4x4
Paper tape
Stool Softener
Pill cutter
Chewable vitamins
Benedryl cream (suggested for those who have a slight allergy to gauze tape)
They had some other stuff on there related to clothing/entertainment items but the list was an old post from 2007. So I thought maybe I might get a more current list from someone.

Topic: RE: Trolls?
I am so laid back I would never leave because of an idiot. I was just truly surprised by it! I am a VERY experienced gamer ... World of Warcraft addiction and all of that so I have dealt with my share of trolls lol.
And no... not all men are scum. I happen to be married to a pretty amazing one!

Topic: Too tight with no fill
Help!
I am having problems with my band. I went to the doc to tell him it was too tight, but he said to just put more fill in. Not the right solution!
What do you do if your band is too tight with no fill? Why is this happening? Can weight gain cause the band to tighten?
The problem is that sometimes it is so tight I can't even drink, and sometimes it is so loose that I have not trouble eating. Why????
I hope someone has an answer for me.
Thank you,
Jennifer

I have a really good family that loves me unconditionally and trust me.....I love them the same way. I also am grateful that I had a wonderful father. My father has been a resident of Heaven for almost 23 yrs. now and my mom has been there for over 5. I miss both of my parents so much. You can't replace your family or parents so please love them with all your heart and value their presence if they are still with you. SO today I am so grateful for friends, family and my parents who raised me with high morals and values of things in life. PLEASE share if you will what you are grateful for today. Have a blessed wednesday.

Topic: RE: Eating too much?????
Thank you for the reply, I orig. had the realize band until it had to be removed due to scar tissue build up. I was so used to going to this forum, I forgot. Thanks again and I will heed your advice on following instructions.
Topic: RE: Eating too much?????
This is a lap band forum but I do know that when they do the RNY surgery that nerves are cut so you don't always feel when you are full, at least for awhile anyway. That is why they tell you to measure your food and just eat that much because your tummy won't be able to tell you for awhile. You probably aren't stretching your stomach but I would imagine you could pop stitches if you over eat too much, it's just not a good idea any time but especially when you are so newly post op. Also stomach acid can make you feel hungry when you really aren't so take notice if that might be the case. For best results follow your surgeon's advice and carefully measure all your portions. Good luck to you!
