I just joined. The last 6 months have been so strange and exciting for me. In mid November 2010 I finally decided I needed help to lose the weight. I searched the web looking for a good and board certified bariatric surgeon; once I found him I did some additional research on him and went to his banding information class. The week following the information session I had all my pre-testing completed. During the month of December 2010 I had all my follow-up appointments with surgeon and other doctors. My insurance approved me really fast and I received a surgery date. I started my 2 week pre-surgery diet on January 20, 2011 and had surgery on February 3, 2011. My starting weight was 274 lbs I am now 224 lbs. So far I’ve been extremely lucky to not have any complications or side effects (no nausea, vomiting or gas pain). I’ve had 2 fills, a total of 3.5 ccs. I’ve noticed that I can pretty much eat whatever I want. Nothing gives me any problems yet.  I just try to make the right food choices, not over eat and take in plenty of liquids. I’m just happy that I finally did something to make my life better and I have no regrets.

Topic: RE: How common are kidney stones after WLS?
Hi everyone! I am back!!!!Thankfully, it was NOT kidney stones. I was super-dehydrated and had a really back kidney infection(in BOTH kidneys!) I was put in the hospital with an IV full of antibiotics (come to find out the next day when the doc came by, it was a med I was resistant to..so got switched.).Then we thought I was gonna be able to come home yesterday but Sunday in the middle of the night my temp spiked back up to 102.5, so was there til today..finally everything stayed on an even keel so here I am..home and happy to be here. Thanks for the concern and the well wishes. You are such a great group of friends! I missed you ALL! HAHAHA Take care!

I do the premiere brand from Costco, great price and everything Tom suggests, perfect on the go, just keep chilled before drinking.

Good luck!!!

Welcome, I am pretty new here myself.. I was realize banded on March 8th, six weeks tomorrow, but honestly it has gone by so fast.. it was such a journey to get to here, but it was so worth it.. and everyone here is great with information, support and feedback.

i wish you luck, and though I am new, I might be able to answer questions about what I went through if you have any.. Tom is a great go to person.. he knows his stuff, and helped me out a ton.. but everyone has some great stories.

Take Care,
