Topic: BIG EASTER UPDATES!!!
So, I saw most of my family for the first time since my surgery yesterday. I had seen my mom and aunt about 15 pounds ago, so I don't really count them. Anyway, I walked into lunch and the reaction was awesome! I was actually a little embarrassed that they were making such a fuss over me, but it felt great to show off the "new" me. It's funny to see the reaction of the men versus the women. Take this example:
Woman: You look so great!
Man: You look so much better...
I'm not saying this happens with everyone, but in my family, it's pretty much how it goes. I just smiled and said thank you, whereas the old me would have gotten angry and defensive. This time, I just told the other women and we laughed about it.
Anyway, it was an awesome feeling. My grandmother is a huge influence in my life. She is the strongest woman I know and always will know. It means a lot for her to be proud of me. We are going on a cruise in July (no husband or kids ) and I've been worrying about clothes. I don't want to buy a lot of stuff before then, but at the same time, I have to buy things a little at a time for financial reasons. Just can't go on a "spree." Anyway, my grandmother told me that the week before the cruise, she is going to give me her credit card to buy an entire week's worth of clothes for the cruise!!!!! And she only buys the best, so no Walmart clothes for once . I can't wait!!!
I hope you all had a great Easter!

Please know that this does not discourage, but rather encourage! I think we have all heard stories about the band slippage, but no one ever talks about having other options after band removal. It is nice to hear that you are able to get the sleeve and stay healthy! And Tom is right, you certainly can and should continue your journey with us! Best of luck as you begin to write "Act 2" of your bariatric journey (said the drama teacher ). I'll be praying for you!!

I actually went out and bought coffee for the first time since my surgery yesterday. I didn't have any caffeine until about 2 weeks ago, but have been having a cup in the morning at work. My doctor didn't really put restrictions on caffeine, but said no carbonated drinks and no tea (meaning our typical southern sweet iced tea). They said something in the tea just doesn't work well with surgery. I haven't tried it and (unfortunately) don't intend to. Anyway, the reason I started drinking coffee again is because it works as a diuretic and seem to need that much more than pre-surgery. As Tom always says, do what your doctor tells you. If we had all the answers, we'd be getting paid the big bucks :)

That's so cute! My kids are 9 and 10, so right around that same age. And I must say, you DO NOT look old enough to have a granddaughter, much less one that is 8!!!

Topic: Wow, 8 months post-op
Wow, after uploading pics from today I started looking at pics on my computer from Easter last year. It's amazing how big of a difference there is in pics of me between then and now. What a difference a year can make between the pics, as I can see a HUGE different in my face, etc... It's been 8 months since surgery, and I've lost about 90 lbs so far. I'm no longer taking blood pressure medication, I'm down 3 pant sizes (and they're getting big), down 2 shirt sizes, etc. I just can't believe that I waited so long to start my weight loss journey!
Also: I edited the the "Subject" of my post to "Wow, 8 months post-op". I realized that putting "what a difference a year can make" implied that I was at my one year surgiversary. With the remark about a year I was just comparing myself to a pic from Easter a year ago.
Easter 2010 (around 380 lbs-it's a wierd looking pic cause I'm bent over to get down by my niece)
and Easter 2011 (290 lbs)
