Thanks everyone! Kim reminded me of something I wanted to post and forgot to earlier. I did feel like my mom was looking at every bite I ate and not really judging, but questioning the amount. Opposite of Kim, my mom said she couldn't believe I could eat so much! I had 2 eggs, a piece of toast, and 2 slices of turkey bacon. I found myself making excuses: my next fill is next week, I would usually have eaten grits, hash browns, and pancakes while finishing my son's cheeseburger and fries, etc. We even went to my grandmother's after lunch for dessert and I stopped at the store and bought a fresh fruit salad so I wouldn't be tempted by my favorite coconut cake. I guess my mom just worries that I'll gain it back, but how do you handle that situation?

Thank you, my dear, for the compliment. I guess I have always looked younger than my age (I AM 53), but, what is really funny...now that I have lost about 30 pounds, my face looks even younger. I do not mind too much though; my husband is only 48..We got married just after HIS 40th birthday! (My son, from previous marriage, obviously, is 27).

That is awesome David! Thanks for sharing! Isn't it a great feeling when clothes start being too big? I just a month ago bought the dress pants I wore Easter Sunday(yesterday)and the are already starting to fall lower on the waistline than they are supposed to! Love it! You look great! I bet you feel great too! Keep up the great work!
Tom I love your comment about re-birth! It is SO fitting! Thank you for saying it that way!

Amy, I had about the same experience you did, but the men in my family (my nephew-in-law and brother-in law (sister's husband) were both really proud and did say how great I looked and I too was embarrassed at the fuss but at the same time, enjoyed it a little lol. My sister kept saying, after we got all the food passed around, "Kim are you sure you have enough? Are you OK?" I said, I had plenty and I would feel much better if everyone would just go on with conversation and as long as nobody stared at me. I was proud I could stand up for myself(has not always been easy for me to do!)

Hair loss happens with a vitamin deficiency.  Since we don't malabsorb that isn't a huge problem with Bandsters...not that it doesn't ever happen.  I think as long as you follow your doctor's plan, you are able to eat and don't keep your band too tight and take your multivitamin, you should be fine.

I have lost 140+ lbs so far and haven't lost any hair.

when did you start seeing your hair thinning? How bad was it? Is it possible that we may need a wig, I am 58 and mine is thin on top now, but I have started using BIOTIN already.

Welcome Aboard!
Boy, you really sound like a success story
. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Any suggestions on how you dealt with diet after surgery, that caused no side effects.?
What does eating whatever you want  consist of????
Those of us heading into surgery, would appreciate any of your insight that you have learned to make it a successful story for us.
