Topic: 5 months out
I was banded on the 27th of December I lost 41 pounds so far I lost 33 in the first 2 months. I have about 6 cc in my band now. Last fill was on the 10th of March. Since then I have been sluggish, tired, cold, and just not there, I have not been eating very much lately. I have a list of my labs to do before the 19th of May. the NP that I work with thinks it is a virus I do work in a FP Clinic (go figure). I think it is more than that but I just can't put my finger on it. I have been getting stuck more often than not even though I chew like hell on everything but I want to graze so I chew on gum to keep me from grazing and I have not lost a pound since my fill. Any advice please help I am about to throw the scales and everything out the window.

Topic: Too Many Irons in the Fire??
I FINALLY have my consult tomorrow, I will see the Nurse(Hospital Coordinator) and Nutritionist at 1:30 and the surgeon at 2:30. I am SOOOOO excited to finally get started. It took some extra time to get in because my PCP has sucky office staff and then my Psychologist had to reschedule my appt cause he was going to be out of town.

I have been doing some serious budgeting, my insurance pays 80% but I have a certain amount I have to pay up front(on pre-op) day AND I'm trying to purchase a house(on my own). I currently live with my parents and am wanting to move out on my own as soon after surgery as possible because I feel as though it will help me stick to the new habits I am about to form rather than get used to eating with the family and then once I start doing my own thing get lazy and resort to unhealth shortcuts.

With all this said, I am now wondering if maybe I am biting off more than I can chew. The house I am hoping to buy is a fixer upper, but it's a steal! I'm just afraid of the house over shadowing my surgery without me realizing it.

How soon after surgery would you all think I would be able to start working on the house myself? Alot of the work will be done by professionals but I will be doing the painting and possibly even some of the floorcoverings. I have plenty of help and support in regards to both the house and surgery. And I know that if it comes down to it, I would choose my surgery over a house any day, no questions asked. Just trying to get things in perspective so I can plan ahead.

Topic: RE: Hair loss - How bad is it
Hi Tom and thanks for responding, I guess I should be concerned with more important things but it bothers me a little. If I had a thick head of hair , I wouldn't think anything of it, but I am sure it will be ok. I still don't have a date for surgery, I am stocking my cabinet with things I will need right after, but I am beginning to doubt my decision, I just wish they would hurry up. Thanks again for taking time to reply. I really enjoy hearing from others.

Hi Purple Lady,
Surgery tomorrow, doing the clear liquid regime today. White grape juice, apple juice, orange and lemon jello, hot clear chicken broth and
crystal light lemon.
First six days, had my tea in a.m. decaffinated ice tea, crystal light.
Jello Indulgence sufgar-free pudding {great} Jello sugar-free.One large can of low sodium chicken with rice first 3 days. Half for lunch, other half for dinner. I used the Atkins Shakes. Found them better over ice for me. As of today down 8 lbs.. It was doable, and a little walking each day.
Just hoping tomorrow and the next week are as good.
Hope this was helpful we can do it stay in touch.

Amy,

I get the same responses - even from Bariatric patients and/or "experts" (Doctors/Nutritionists).

I eat a larger amount then the average bariatric person, then again what is average. As anything else, each individual is different. Bottom line: I am losing weight, and I feel full.

If anyone ever questions, all you need to say is "(While I appreciate your concern) my Doctor states this portion is perfect for me". I always joke "well if it wasn't for my band, I'd be having 8 helpings.

Good luck
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom
