Topic: RE: MONDAY GRATEFUL POST
My "grateful for" this week is that my son and his family are coming to see us weekend after next. Have not seen them since August! So , they have not seen my weight loss. In fact , my son has NEVER seen me at this lower weight in his whole life! He is 27.
Also, I guess I have another one: My podiatrist was so pleased at the weight I have lost so far. He said I was "beaming" and he has never seen me so upbeat and happy. He is especially happy about the weight loss because, since I have Spina Bifida, I have small feet and small calf bones, and the extra weight was unhealthy for that(among other medical) reason. He and I have a "deal". I am not supposed to concentrate on the negative (my calves are so thin now all I see is the flab from the weight I lost)when instead I should say, "now I have the opportunity to use the machines at the gym to strengthen my calf muscles, even if they will not get much stronger.
Sorry I rambled again! Thanks for the opportunity to post our gratefulnesses, Vivian!

Topic: RE: Horrific left shoulder pain!!!!!!!
I have heard of it being because of the air they fill you up with in surgery that it can hurt in your shoulders for, sometimes, weeks. Did not experience it that long myself..only about a week or so. Hope this helps
Topic: Hello Everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself to the message boards for the Realize Band. I just found out that is what my surgeon uses and I feel confident in his decision.
I have been reading through the forum today and I am eager to participate. So many knowledgeable and kind people to help support me on my journey.
I believe strongly in support. I really liked how Tom said "Time for some tough love...". What a great way to share information. Sometimes we need to hear the difficult stuff.
I am getting ready to start my pre op diet and I have a surgery date of May 26, yay!!!

Topic: Horrific left shoulder pain!!!!!!!
Had no gas after the surgery. Then a little developed. But, this isn't that. It has been building for a couple of days. Used heating pad, moist heat. nothing. Went full force
this afternoon. The doctor had given me .percoset, but I had no pain that needed that. Had to take one!! I thought I read somewhere on the site, about this being a side effect some people experienced. Any info guys?????????? Katie in New York

Katie,
Are you trying to “expel" the gas? The pain in the shoulder is caused by the gases trying to escape. Have you been using your “breathing device" – that helps.
Good luck tomorrow. Keep us posted how it goes

Topic: RE: 2nd Fill Not as Fun...
I personally have not experienced that, but I have heard of it happening, also. When I have gone in for the 2 fills I have has so far it has been, and always will be the surgeon's physician assistant doing the fill. I know I am not at my magic number yet and I have a few weeks left until the next fill. I am at 5.3cc. I have also never gotten to watch anything on any screen. What is that about? Should I be having my fills done a different wy? should I inquire about that the next time I go in?
