Kim,

Thanks for sharing, and congrats on your lost!! You're going fantastic.

Now a pet peeve .. DROP THE WORD ONLY !! I get very upset to read, or hear, “I’ve lost only X pounds". Why use the word ONLY !?!?!?! Be proud of those pounds you lost!!! This is a major accomplishment!!

How many times were you NOT able to lose that amount of weight???? Or when you did, you gained it back?? If you lost weight, and haven’t gained it back, then you winning (Sorry Charlie Sheen)!!!!!!!!

And thanks for sharing YOUR addiction. Goes to show even healthy things can cause us to go overboard. Be PROUD you figured out your addiction, and you're STRONG ENOUGH to know how to successfully battle it.

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

Kimkeever, my question to you – have you asked your Nutritionists/Doctor? Their recommendations may be different then what someone on the board may tell you. So like I always warn, *** DISCLAIMER ALERT *** TALK TO THE DOCTOR/NUTRITIONIST BEFORE INCREASING /CHANGE YOUR INTAKE.

With that said, remember you need to hit your protein needs in order to be successful, and milk has protein in it. MY DOCTOR/NUTRITIONIST recommends Skim milk (or Skim Plus, or Skim Milk mixed with Fat-Free instant milk).   Don’t forget, these drinks should count towards the allotment of daily liquids you’re required to have. So two 8 ounces of protein drink would be 16 ounces of liquid. Again, YOUR  DOCTOR/NUTRITIONIST may feel differently.

I hope this makes sense and/or answered your question.
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Hi I have a question...

I had been on a mini plateau and I couldnt figure out why, so I found out I havent been getting enough protien or eating enough during the day.  I started back drinking 2 protien shakes during the day to ensure that Im getting enough nutrition, but I have been using 1% milk with them.  How much milk is too much on a daily basis?

thanks in advance

Cottage Cheese...what a weird weakness...hahaha.  I like cottage cheese but not as much as you I guess.  I eat cottage cheese every day at lunch.  I have a measuring cup at work to make sure I only get one serving.

I have on my fridge a picture of myself at my heaviest (354lbs) and the most recent picture of myself.  I have trouble looking in the mirror and seeing that I lost weight.  I still look fat to myself.  So the pictures helps me see how far I have come.  It helps me from over eating or eat the wrong things.

Topic: My latest fill
I had a fill Tuesday, and I am up to 5.9 (I WAS at 5.3). Now I can not eat everything in site, which is awesome. I only lost 2 pounds in that whole month. But, I know, a loss is a loss, so I am grateful for that. I have figured out my weakness...cottage cheese, so that will no longer be on the grocery list in my home. I have a sign on my frig, at the suggestion of the PA, which reads "Do I NEED this, or do I just WANT this?" It is working so far. I never really thought I had a food addiction, but I have come to realize(no pun intended) that I actually do, and probably always have. With the fill, I can now feel where I have had enough food, which, also, is awesome. I could never tell before...
Well, enough babbling. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Hi Nicci,
Down to one pain pill at night.   Interestingly though, yesterday I was out all day, and all I had was my shakes.   Just 3, and for dinner onion soup no cheese.  So I didn't have my soups during the day.
Not the least bit of pain last night.  Now again today, the same and I'm having chicken and veg mushie tonite.  I'm anxious to see what happens tonite.   Will let you know.  Thanks for asking.

Hi Heather,
On the whole feeling great.  Soreness was gone by day 7, by day 10 don'rt even notice the port.

Starting mushies tonite, I was out all day.  I was out with my son after he finished work last night.  He wanted to stop at a restaurant for dinner, I said I can't.   He said, yes you can, you can  have soup.  I thought OK.............! The only soup was onion with cheese and bread on top. I ordered it and did fine,  just ate the onion portion.   I was pleased.   I'm having an awful battle with the water.    I have to get that under control,  like now.    I'm suffering from that darn left shoulder pain.   But, I found yesterday when I hadn't eaten as much,  {no soups}  because I was out,  I didnt get it at all last night.  Otherwise I'm great.
I have my support  group tomorrow night,  so I'll ask questions.  Thanks a lot for asking. Get back to me on your ups,  and downs. Stay in touch Katie

Topic: RE: Have not had a fill yet, but food is getting stuck...

Here are some reasons you can be getting stuck

(1) Eating to fast. I would suggest waiting one full minute between putting another peice of food in your mouth

(2) The size of the food is too big. Before putting a peice of food in your mouth ask yourself "would I give this to a baby" (and yes, I mean HUMAN baby and not elephant)

(3) Are you chewing the food at least 30 times before swallowing? The food should feel like baby-food consistence before swallowing

(4) Is the food moist enough? Dry foods will get stuck easier

(5) Is the food fibrous? This is an issue with newbies

(6) Is the food too doughy? Bread type of food can be difficult unless cooked really well (aka - BURNT)

(7) Dehydration!! While we shouldn’t drink and eat at the same time, if you haven’t taken your allotment of fluids in during the day, your stomach will swell if it’s dehydrated. Make sure you drink when you’re suppose to.

(8) Nerves!! Nerves can cause your stomach to tighten, hence causing the band to be even more tight allowing less food through.

Hope this was helpful. Let us know what your Doctor says.

Good Luck on your Journey !!
