Topic: Cost
I live in Northern Illinois near Schaumburg. I am at the point where I know I am finally ready to get the realize band. What I have noticed is that there can be thousands of dollars in difference in price from facility to facility with various pre-op tests either included or not included. I've seen from 13,000 to 16,000 and beyond. I'm looking for a qualified surgeon with a good program and at a fair price. I do not mean to sound like I'm looking for a used car but it seems that some places try to charge more just because they can. Can anyone advise me on bariatric places in the area that have a great facility/program with a good price as I will be self pay. Thank you all so much for the help.

I am filled to 5.9 but do not feel much restriction. I am just trying to drink water when I "feel" hunger. It is hard, but I do not want to sabotage all the hard work I have done so far. You are right about one thing: being too tight is worse than feeling no restriction at all. Good luck to you.

Good idea not to bring any munchies into the house. I still have a problem with "grazing", but I am trying to drink water instead of grazing. It is a hard habit to break. I grazed before the surgery. I KNOW that is how I got to the point of needing the surgery. haha

I saw my PCP for pain that seems to originate near my port, he decided it is probably the port or tubing and that I should contact my bariatric surgeon for advice. Before I could even make an appointment with the bariatric surgeon, they called me. My PCP sent them an email telling them I had been in and had what seemed to be pain at the port site and they called me immediately. Call your surgeon's office tomorrow just to run it by them.

Like Kim I don't have a problem with emotional or stress eating. I lost 30 lbs during my divorce!!!! I tend to eat more when I'm happy and content. What I do to curb the munchies is not bring any into the house. It works for me.

Stephanie,
You are not on a liquid diet this close to your surgery? You get to have fruit? I am surprised, but I know all doctors are different. Just wondering.

I am so sorry about the loss of your job. You are right, the timing is terrible. I am so happy you will still be able to have your surgery. I am hoping that after your surgery, something even better will come your way.
I have started to become a bit emotional as I get closer to my surgery date next Thursday. I did get light headed and was told to add a little more food in my diet. I eat an extra piece of fruit or some yogurt.
Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

I haven't been having any of those things until yesterday, so I'm sure it was just stress. I'm fine today and have the weekend to think about the changes that have to be made for work. I've brought A LOT of stuff to work of my own and I have to get it outta there. Then, since I moved to this location just so I could work here, I'll be moving back to my home area, 6 hours away, so I have to pack my house here, of what I want to keep for my other house and have a yard sale for all the stuff I'm not taking back with me. I'm sure I was just overwhelmed with the surprise announcement and then the thoughts of what I have to do next.

I would not consider any pain "normal". I suggest you talk to your doctor, or a nurse. That is just my thoughts, but I am only 3 months out so I am new at this.

I did not have the "lightheadedness" until 1 week into my 2 week after surgery liquid diet. They let me start eating pureed food a week early. Personally I like the liquid diet phase, only because you are told what to eat and when to eat and exact measurements of the things you can eat(liquids, I mean of course). I am sorry about your job. You are in my prayers. Keep the Faith!
