Getting to Know you

So, I have been on here for awhile talking about my band, issues with it, weight loss, weight gain, etc., but I haven't really said much about life outside of the band. Anyway, last week, I was on the front page of the entertainment section of our local paper. Inside was a full page article about "little old me" (that sounds good to say ). On the cover was a picture of me playing Ms. Hannigan in "Annie" in December. On the inside were three other pictures. One was from last May as Bloody Mary in "South Pacific" (Snookie hair and all); One was from 2008 when I played Mrs. Meers in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" (don't ask how this little white girl from North Carolina has landed 2 Asian roles); And one was from about 10 days after my surgery. Anyway, my point is that there is a definite visible progression in my weight from September 2008 until December 2010. Of course, the cover was me at my heaviest. Looking at how I looked then (like I was smuggling a bean bag chair under my dress) compared to how I look now was a major confidence booster. I have that picture posted on my board at school as well as my refrigerator at home as a reminder of how far I've come. My hope is that every time I see it, I will realize how important making the right food choice is. Ok. Enough about me. I would love to hear about some of your lives too. It's nice to learn a little about the people who are always bringing such positive vibes to this message board!

I'm not acting when I say BOOOYAH!!! You're not only a STAR on the stage, but a STAR here too!! Congrats and thanks for sharing.

As for me - well I've written about myself to add nausea - so I won't bore folks even more.

This is about YOU and how much admiration I have for you. Maybe one day we'll get to see you preform!!

Thanks for sharing!! And again, BOOOOYAH!!
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

That is very cool!! Congrats on your progress. I know what you mean about old pictures being important to look at. I keep looking at my wedding pictures from only 9 yrs ago(I was not even at my heaviest yet at that time) and now to try on the dress and see it is 3 sizes TOO BIG is just unfathomable to me. I am gaining physical strength and emotional strength, and my self esteem is going higher every day! Thanks fellow Bandsters for always being here for me!! Love you all! I also have to keep in mind my 27 yr old son has never seen me at the weight I am now. I was 5 pounds heavier in 199 when he was confirmed. My husband keeps calling me his "incredible shrinking wife"..I LOVE IT!!!

I know what you mean, Kim! I have been married for 13 years, but after 2 kids back to back (they are exactly 12 months and 2 weeks apart!), I just couldn't stop gaining. I am down to the same weight I was when I was pregnant with my first, but I have the energy and motivation I had when I got married at 145 lbs. It's crazy, but I'm not complaining!!!

when I was married (the first time )I weighed 140.That as 32 yrs ago. 140 is my goal now. My present husband has never seen me as low as I am now. My 27 yr old son has not seen me this light either(the lightest I was while he was growing up..for his 9th grade confirmation I "got down to" 171. Pictures from then are so strange to look at. Have a great weekend.

Good Morning and congrats to you on all  your success.   I too have one of my biggest photos on my fridge.   Can't ever forget where I come from.   I post the Motivational Post and daily Grateful Post here daily.   I am not a lap band patient but I know that ALL the WLS work if you work them the way that they were designed.   I am a Obesity Help Support Group Leader and I am 51/2 yrs. post op RNY.    I am the mother of 3 sons.....ages 29, 25, and 20.    I am a stay at home home ( guess I should say homemaker...since my son's are all grown.....20 yr. old is still at home though  LOL ).
I always try to be upbeat and encouraging to others and yes.....I do read every reply I get to my posts.    I originally lost 140 lbs. ( have gained back a little bit....but not totally unhappy with where I am now...but wish I was back at my smallest. )   Hope that everyone goes to one of the 3 OH Events this year....they are AWESOME if you have never attended.     I have a discount promo code for the New Orleans, La. one.   That is the one that I am attending.    Hope you all have a blessed day !!!

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Thanks, Vivian! I enjoy reading your motivational quotes and good day reports. You are definitely a role model to us all!!! I would love to attend some events. Right now, I'm not really financially able, but maybe in the future. Thanks again!
