>> What the BEST protein to take?? << .. hmmmmmmmm .. do I answer this in the typical male manner, and get thrown off the boards - or not too .. that is the real question !!

Of course, natural protein (from food) is the best.

Until you can eat - you will need to get supplements, and many Doctors/Nutritionists will tell you to get LOW FAT COMPLETE WHEY protein.

Which brand to purchase - well that's all a matter of taste. You may need to try a lot until you find one that you like (many taste like sweat sock juice).

Just make sure the Protein is (per serving): No more than 25 (30) grams of Protein; around 200 to 220 calories; less than 10 grams of carbs.

As always, your Doctor/Nutritionists may tell you differently - so go by them.
Good Luck on your Journey !!

I felt the same exact way, as I'm sure everyone does.  The thing that scared me most, was the realization that I was not going to be eating the same way I was used to anymore(that's scary)!!!  As for the surgery itself, I had day surgery and felt so good when i got home, I called my Dr's office to see if I could go to work the next day(of course they said no), but, that's how good I felt.....a little sore in the midsection, but, that's to be expected...............it's the best decision if you've been battling weight for all your life like me.

"GOOD LUCK" with your surgery!!!!!!

Hi and good luck to you on your surgery.

I personally like EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control shakes. For 11oz. it is 110 calories and 17 grams of protein. I get a case of 24 at Sam's Warehouse for around $26.

Unjury also has good protein powders that disolve well and don't taste like sweaty socks (lol Tom!). Unjury makes a chicken flavored protein powder which is nice because during the liquid phase so many of our options are sweet, its a nice change. You can find it at www.unjury.com.

I got my band 10/16/2009 and just hit my -60lb mark. Not as fast a some but I am thrilled and don't regret my choice one bit! Everyone is different so it is important not to measure your journey against another's.

Best wishes to you and please let us all know how you are doing.
Leslie
