Ethicon Endo-Surgery has introduced an enhanced design of a component of the REALIZE Adjustable Gastric Band and is voluntarily recalling remaining hospital inventories of the previous version. There is no action required for patients who already have received these gastric bands, and removal (explantation) of the gastric band is not required.

I called about the recall and pretty much got the same story they areported in the recal, somethign about an anti kink feature that is faulty. I reported my problem with my port coming detached and got a case number, I guess I will be hearing back from them about this issue. I am not sure how this will be handled as far as a new surgery and who will pay for it.... I guess I should find out soon since my deductable has already been met for this year.
