Adjustment Question
I went to the nutritionist yesterday and she told me something rather interesting and now I have questions.
My first fill the doctor said he put in 6 c c's. My second fill the PA put in 2 cc's. So I'm happily thinking I had 8cc's but still not filling much restriction. The nutritionist took a look at the records and she said the records showed:
1) first fill 6 cc's
2) second fill - removed 4 cc's and added 2 more cc's for a total of 6 cc's.
Where did two cc's go from this first fill go? I didn't know they actually removed the saline each time - but apparently they do at my doctor's office. But why was there only 4 cc's removed when he put in 6 to begin with? And aren't I just back to where I was after the first fill?
Help - confused!!!

According to my surgeon, the band is porous so a little of the liquid can leak out. When I got my second fill, my surgeon removed the original 3 ccs (actually she only got 2.8 ccs) and then put the original 3 ccs. back and added another 8 ccs for a total of 3.8 ccs. At the third fill, she removed 3.8 ccs and put that back and added another .6 ccs for a total of 4.4 ccs. Does that make sense? Apparently, as the band gets full less liquid leaks out.
I'm very jealous of all of you that are getting these huge fills. My surgeon is taking is so slowly.
Good luck!

Don't be too anxious for large fills. My surgeon also takes it slow because he's found there's less chance of slippage if the band is filled slowly. I'd rather take it easy and forgo another surgery to correct a slipped band.
