Scared
My post won't be all sunshine and rainbows. I fight with head hunger and cravings all the time. Be prepared that just because you had surgery those will go away. If you can, work with the shrink on food addictions and ways to work with it. I will have to say for me, the hardest part has been getting my head into the program. Eating well, exercising, those haven't been as bad as walking through Wally World and realizing all the food that you can no longer have (not really a bad thing IMO, but can be depressing).
I didn't realize that sitting in my car triggered my head hunger. All those Micky D breakfasts, and eating on the go really set up some habits for me that I'm having a hard time breaking. The greatest feeling though is beating those bad habits back and replacing them with good ones.
My suggestion is to use these boards as a support group and follow your clinics/nut/shrink/surgeons plan to the letter, or as close as possible. When you get the urge to eat, try taking a drink, or getting up and taking a quick walk.
You can do it, but you really have to see the surgery as a tool. You're still controlling your actions.

I agree with Samantha - however this band has made every past weight loss attempt so much easier. I have a renewed desire to lose weight and keep it off.
I won't lie - I wake up everyday with the fear I will fall back into old habits and regain the weight. But it's that fear that keep me honest and on track.

Good Luck on your Journey !!

YES YOU CAN!!! It just becomes a mind game. Start of from the beginning determined to succeed and you will! You will have set backs, but you WONT gain 50 pounds-you will realize Oh O I had WLS I cant eat like this. Cry-throw away the junk and move forward!
When I have a brownie, I have a brownie NOT a whole batch of brownies, or when i have ice cream i have a small bowl of ice cream NOT a half gallon!!! It makes all the difference in the world.
THEN when you see the results, feeling better, looking better, working out, wearing smaller clothers, getting compliments EVERY DAY, being looked at by strangers and NOT thinking Oh Gosh....NO.........let me hang my head in shame-and you stand up straight and throw your head back and smile coz YOU DID IT, and they are looking at you because you look FANTASTIC!! Wow i got carried away lol thats just how I have been feeling lately! and You will too, just give it a chance, dont quit before you get started!
And if its really too much, ask your doc for appetite supressants to get you through the hard times. Sometimes we need a little help. There is also counseling if it gets really bad. So take advantage of every avenue to help you succeed, the more you succeed the more you will be movitated to continue!
There will be tough days, but i promise the good will outnumber the bad!!!
