I was banded on Jan 21, and have been advised to walk for an hour a day 5 days a week by a surgeon who wasn't my own. Is this normal?

EXCERCISE and a key component to losing weight, and the earlier you begin, the better it will be.

Now I would never to contradict what your Doctor prescribed, but if you are anything like me and hated to exercise before, my suggestion is start off slow and build up to 1 hour. If you do an hour from the beginning, great !! If not, I would suggest the following

(Day 1) start with walking out the door, down to the corner and back home.

(Day 2) walk down to the corner, then to the other corner, and back home.

(Day 3) corner to corner then ½ way down the next block, head home

(Day 4) corner to corner, then next block, and back home;

(Day 5) corner to corner, block to block, and back home

Keep adding ½ a block per day and in no time you’ll be doing 1 hour and seeing the neighborhood

And remember, you don’t have to do all 5 days in a row .. Do two days, take a day off, two days, day off, two days .. Within seven days, you’ll be walking 5 times.

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom
