3rd Fill
Well I am 3 months post op today and am going for my 3rd fill this morning. The doc told me this time we will do it under flouroscopy to make sure everything is working right. He said that most people don't need more than the 3rd fill. The weight loss has been slow which is normal I guess. I haven't gained any weight back so that's a plus. I'm wondering if everyone sticks to the whole no drinking for 30 min before and after eating. I have trouble with that. How bad is it if you drink with meals? I'm going to ask my doctor today but I wanted to get opinions from people who are living with the band. Well, thanks guys and best wishes to everyone!
I had to have 7 fills before I had the restriction I needed. I am now at 9.8 ccs. I know quite a few people that have needed more than 3 fills.
As far as drinking while eating and after meals (my doctor lets us drink before meals) I am good about that 70% of the time. I'm not perfect but I do pretty well. It's worse when I eat out.
I've only had one fill so far. I have a little restriction but not enough. I'm loosing very slowly and it's soooooo frustrating! I go for my second fill end of February.
I find that not drinking while I eat is the hardest part. Prior to WLS I only drank when I ate so this is a whole new thing for me. I sit there watching the clock to make sure I wait 1/2 hour after eating then I dive for the water!

So I got my 3rd fill. I am now up to 9 cc in my 10 cc band. I asked about drinking while eating and the doc said as long as it's a few small sips it's ok. He said that since its such a small space he doesn't want me to fill up on liquids before getting the needed calories and protein from my meal. He told me to stick to liquids today and tomorrow. It was pretty nea****ching the flouroscopy. I could see the barium getting stuck and then slowly flowing through, like sand through an hour glass.
I do drink before meals and have never had a problem. I do wait 30 to 60 minutes though to drink again after eating. It was really hard for me at first, but I have adapted. It's funny cause my last bite is always me looking at the clock or my watch for the time so I know when I can drink again and I normally wait an hour. Everyone figures out what works best for them. I know it seems hard at first but it does get easier. Oh, and I will have a couple sips of something when I am done, but it's like 2 sips and that is it.
