Thanks ya'll!! At the seminar we were told it is usually two to three months from application time to surgery time, but the nurse told me she would get right on my application and it normally takes about three weeks for insurance approval. I supplied copies of my sleep study and CPAP titration reports, 3 years' worth of med rec from my PCP (the last of whi*****ludes her referral to the surgeon for lap-band). We'll do the upper GI first, and nut consult in the same day, schedule apt with the surgeon, then all that's left is the psychologist apt. So there's a possibility I could be banded within four to five weeks! I'm not counting on it, though, but trying to gear myself up for the entire process, including the preop liver-shrinking weight loss. i'll probably make myself sick for the next week or so, trying to eat everything in sight that I won't be able to enjoy for a very long time, maybe never, after the surgery. But, I'm totally stoked!!!
I desperately need some new clothes, but I am refusing to buy anything else, knowing that next winter the clothes that fit me now will hopefully fit TWO of me. We're in the mdidle of a deep freeze here in the south with the coldest temps in years, and though I hate to wear coats anyway, I'm wishing I had one about now. But that's okay. I'm not buying a size 22 winter coat. I'll wait until next year and buy a much smaller one!!! Too bad I can't predict my size for next winter and get one on clearance right now!
Sorry for rambling. I'm just excited. Looking forward to spending more time on here and getting to know ya'll better, take advantage of your support, and hopefully one day be able to encourage and support other newbies. Have a great day, ya'll!!

Congrats Cathy, I'm right with you. I have my first appointment this Thursday (1/14). The office has already pulled my insurance and shows it covers the procedure. I too was also thinking that it would be April or May before my surgery, but now looking like it might go quicker. I hope so! I so ready for a thinner me. Keep in touch and let me know how everything goes.

I am happy for you. I got approved really quick. Once they submitted my paper work on Wednesday evening I got a call Friday at noon that my surgery was approved and they had a date for me at the time she called me I was like NO WAY this quick. From the time I went to my first appointment on 09/09 my surgery was 12/02/08. No one wanted surgery on or before the holidays so that is how I got in so quick I was so excited. Again I am glad for you and you will enjoy it as well as I do.
