Constipated all the time?  It was mentioned in another thread and I have been struggling with this since surgery.  I kept thinking it would get better, but it just isn't.  I drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, plus a protein shake.  I started taking benefiber chews to help and some days I pop a dulcolax softener.  It's like constant though.  I was not like this preband.

Any help or suggestions?

My doc told me to take colace or miralax.  I have been doing 2 colace everynight and it helps.  You can actually take both if you need to.  They are both pretty easy on your tummy and they just coat the stomache with an indigestible substance that helps coat the walls to make it easier to have a bm.  This was told to me by 2 different docs so I trust that it is safe.  Get colace though not the docolax, it is more harsh

Thanks, I am gonna get some colace.  I just don't want a laxative.  So, maybe that will help better then the dulcolax.

I'm in the same boat.  I actually tried using Benefiber but since I don't drink a protein shake everyday and I don't remember to add it to anything else it's not helping much.  I wasn't like this pre-band either and it's very uncomfortable.  I think I'll try the previous suggestion and see if that works.

They do sell the benefiber in chewable tabs which is what I bought cause I know I won't be adding the powder to things either.  They are not bad either.  Just an fyi.

OMG...Boo...I went on here to post the same thread!!!  My constipation is driving me INSANE!!!  I have been taking Colace 2x a day for the past week and it helps alittle but still not enough!!!  It seems about 1 time a week I am killing myself in the bathroom (I'm sorry I know, TMI!!!).  I will try the Miralax also.  My nut had actually told me to try Colace or Miralax so I will try that.  Does the Benefiber help any?  At this point, I'll do all 3 if I need to!!!

3cc on 12/10/09, 0.8cc on 1/25/10, 1.0 cc on 3/15/10, 1.0 cc on 4/28/10, 0.2 cc on 6/16/10, 0.7 cc on 8/26/10, 0.8 cc on 10/15/10, 1.0 cc on 3/17/11 and 0.3 cc on 6/9/11.  8.8 cc in my 11cc band

I am like you and it is not a fun time in the bathroom.  My poor hiney is paying the price.  I know it's tmi, but I don't know how to stop it and I am getting scared it is always gonna be like this.  It hurts.  :(

I am gonna get some colace and maybe some miralax too.  The benefiber has seemed to help a little on top of the dulcolax.  I got the chew tabs and eat 2 of them 3x a day.  I go back in mid January and am gonna ask my Dr.  I wonder if there is anything prescription strength they can do for this.

I have been pounding the water big time and drink like 80-90 ounces a day.  I really am at a loss of what else I can do.

Does anyone know WHY this is happening?  Like an actual reason.  Not that it will help, but I am one of them people who likes a good solid answer.

Nurse suggest colace in the morning and then in the evening for a while, then once a day to keep it regular.  It did get a lot better for me when I started on veggies and fruit.

Thanks Randy!  I am gonna get some tomorrow and start taking it.

I can't wait to hear a real answer to why this happens after we are banded.  I am also wondering if it could be because we don't drink with the meals?  I can't imagine that would be it.  I drink double the water now then I did pre-band.  I am hoping my Dr. will have a valid explanation come January.

Boo...I haven't had that problem yet...It seems my system does not like the sugar free stuff we eat now...like the popscicles, hot choc and the puddings...I eat one serving and am off and running.
I hope I don't experience what you are experiencing...but if I do, I guess I can load up on the sugar free pudding.

Happy New Year to you and I hope your problem is solved easily.
