48 hours post-op

I am 48 hours post-op and I am surprised how little pain I have felt. My question at this point is it normal not to have a BM? I have not had one since pre-op. I am not huting or suffering at all but I am usually VERY regular. Is this normal?

congrats and welcome to the losers bench. Yes it is normal going to the bathroom.  My surgeon gave me doc lax,  I have trouble for about 3 weeks.  Good luck and hope it gets better.

 I know I too am a regular girl but it was 5 days post op before my first BM and I was concerned but it was normal .......I thing the body is a bit out of sorts after surgery and lets face it we are not eating out normal diet so its all bound to be a little different .......good luck with your continued recovery and it wasn't as bad for me as i anticipated too

Congrats on getting through! I also didn't feel much pain the first few days, but then a little over a week out then I started feeling sore like I had done to many sit ups but it still wasn't bad. I didn't go to the bathroom until around 5 days out. I think it is from the bowel prep before surgery, and then not taking in food I do think it is completely normal.

Be careful what you wish for. Once it happens, it HAPPENS - and usually not very .. err ... hmmmm .. solid if you get my drift (in more ways than one).

Here is a bit of advice .. how do I put this politely... For now on .. 'DON'T TRUST A GAS TO REMAIN A GAS. WHAT YOU THINK WILL BE GAS MAY BECOME A LIQUID OR A SOLID"

I'm one week post-op and I'm just getting regular.  I used some stool softener once in a while which helped.

It took me 6 days to have a bm after surgery.  I still suffer constipation now.  It sucks.  I used to be very normal too. 

 

I too am still dealing with constipation!!!  If ANYONE finds something that works besides Colace (tried that) and a laxative...let me know!!!!!

Just wanted to check on how you were.... Hope all is well.
