fills being covered

good morning all.....I recieved a bill the other day for 800.00 and was so shocked because i was under the impression that i was 100percent covered and there was no bill back, meaning that whatever insurance paid was fine...I called the office and the billing woman told me that this was 80/20, which no one told me,,,100 pecent means 100 percent....so then i asked about fills, chich again i was told that my insurance covers fills for  i think 1 year or so,,,,,i asked and they said that i have to get approval for each fill....has anyone had this problem or can help me out with understanding this whole mess,,,on top of that they wanted me to pay in full or put it on a cre dit card...I said that is not going to happen ,,,we were not prepared for this and we will pay monthy what we can pay, that's that....

It varies with insurance companies.  Mine pay for the first one if it is done within 90 days, then I pay 100% for every fill or unfill after that.  I have read that some just pay their $35 copay for each fill.

I think it really depends on your individual insurance. A nurse at my doctors office said that her insurance paid for the surgery, but nothing on the fills. I checked before having the surgery and my insurance has already preapproved 7 fills covered at 100 %. I don't understand why some insurance companies agree to pay for the surgery but not the maintenance that goes with it??? makes no sense... Good luck, I hope you are able to call the insurance and get everthing straightened out.

Ugh, that just sucks big time.  Especially a bill like that this time of year.  I can't offer any advice, but hang in there.  Now you know though.  :(
