Back when I was banded, I was mainly drinking(sipping**** water and I had a little bit of jello. I began to hiccup. It has since then stopped. It was very mild. But is hiccupping after the band is placed very normal? I never vomited and seldom felt like I had to vomit.

Hiccuping is very normal..I had hiccups pretty bad after a week or so post op..its from all the gas they put in to expand the stomach..you definitiely want to make sure you using your spirometer, they should have sent  you home with one to breath in about every hour or so that will  help release a lot of the gas and prevent those hiccups..I read this post last so I just wanted to say congrats on being banded! Thanks.

Its my soft stop too.  Anymore after that and I overeat the band.  I've only done that once.  It was a horrible feeling.  Painful!  Good luck

a spirometer is a thingee thay give in the hospital after surgery, you put that little tube part in your mouth ans suck in , it works your lungs to get back to normal.......

I too get hiccups whenever I eat too fast. I was recently banded (2 weeks post op).

I felt like I had to vomit the first three days and I stopped taking the liquid vicodin and that made it go away.  I think it was making me queasy.

I also hiccuped a lot right after surgery, it was annoying but it has actually stopped except some few bouts every once in a while. I was getting them like 2-4 times a day after surgery and they hurt.  LOL  All better now.
