How much should you feel the port???
I had my surgery on December 1st and I'm feeling fine. I'm wondering though, I can really feel my port. It's right at the surface of the skin. I'm afraid that if I lose weight the port is going to protrude out. Is it normal for the port to be this close to the top of the skin?? What happens when you lose weight? Does it move lower or will it protrude out??
I can feel mine with my hands but it doesnt actually stick out so you could see it in the mirror.
If it does stick out after I lose a bunch more weight I guess I would prefer that to my big old belly sticking out (LOL)
When you start getting fills you will appreciate the port being easy to find and hit, also this close after surgery you probably still have some abdominal swelling and it may become less prominent in time.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks for replying. I would definitely prefer a port to my belly! :) good point!
Did you have discomfort around your port initially? I'm 9 days post op. I'm walking around fine, etc. However, it hurts when I bend or sit up. I'm not on pain meds or in agonizing pain or anything but it is a bit uncomfortable and I'm more afraid that if I bend too much that I will somehow move the port or mess the surgery up. Is this normal? If I'm feeling discomfort should I stop doing something? Or should I continue because I need to stretch it out. Again, the discomfor is mild but I'm afraid something is wrong. I did call my surgen to be sure but I wanted to see whether others had this experience.
I have a friend who had the band put in a few months ago and she said she never felt anything.

Everyone is so different. Just listen to your body. My port didn't bother me at all the first week or two and then it got really sore. It feels better now, but here and there I can feel it pull.
I can feel my port when I push on it, especially laying down. I'll take that anyday though too. :)
