Today started the puree phase of my diet regiment...I am eating a scrambled egg...slowly and squishing it between my teeth before I swallow...

Is this allowed?

Scrambled eggs were on my soft foods list.   My puree phase was supposed to be blended and smooth foods, stuff you could drink through a big straw if your sucked real hard.  lol  Call and check with your Dr. if your not sure where eggs is on your foods.   I live on eggs now.  lol

I wanted an egg so bad on pureed it was driving me nuts.  I am sure it did no harm and I am sure you were very careful.  I was so nervous post-op I would have drank water for 5 weeks if they told me too.  LOL

You are doing great so far.  One more week till soft foods!!!  Whoo Hoo...that is where the liquids and phases officially became a thing of the past for me.  LOL

Yes, but Boo, when you finally got to food, did you find it hard to meet your protein goals per day...I would assume that I have to drink a protein shake every day to meet the goal...What do you do?
I did enjoy the scrambled eggs but was nervous all night that I did myself some harm...
I will have to follow the rules...the nutritionist called yesterday while I was out..I could have asked her.  And do you eat bread...a couple of the recipes in the book they gave me called for bread.  I thought bread was a no no.

Once I got to regular foods I was allowed bread.  I started with toast to see if I could tolerate bread.  I don't think bread is a NO NO, but more a food lots of people can't tolerate, that, rice and pasta.  I can eat all three just fine.  I eat all whole wheat though, only whole wheat pasta, bread and if I eat rice I do brown rice.  I have had no issues at all with any of them.  I would wait till you are at regular foods though, but check with your Dr. if you want, everyone is different.

I do drink a protein shake, every single morning on my way to work.  I get 20 grams from my Unjury protein and then 8 grams from the skim milk.  I normally hit between 70-90 grams a day.  If I am low, I love having a cup of the chicken soup protein.  Mmmmhhhh...especially with it getting cold.  Sometimes I am too low on calories at the end of the day and I drink one to bump my calories up.  Who'd have thought my concern would be not eating enough some days.  ;)

I know a lot of people say it's supposed to be three meals a day, but I know a lot of people have responded to the protein shake threads and they do one or two.  You just have to figure out how to get your calories and protein together and then roll with it.  Also, once you get to regular foods you can really start charting your foods.  I hated the phases because I just wanted to get into a routine and it was hard cause I knew they were all temporary.  Once I got to regular foods I started logging my foods daily and it is a huge help cause you know exactly what you ate and where your at at the end of the day.

Also, I do focus on eating high protein stuff like eggs, cheese, dairy (yogurt, cottage cheese etc.) and chicken and beef.  I eat a lot of beef and have no issues with that either.  I do have some restriction but I know it's not my sweet spot, so that might change when I get there.

Hope some of that helps.  LOL

Thanks Boo..you gave me alot of tips.  I am hungry right now, my stomach is growling (thats a first) I am going to have a protein shake for lunch.  I had cottage chz for breakfast...I am looking forward to the vegie soup for dinner...Finding out that the SF puddings and jello have an adverse affect on me....if you get my drift....
So I have to limit that stuff.

I did get a tub of that Unjury chicken soup mix and its not bad....

Right now, though...yesterday and today I am having alot of pain around the port area...is this also normal...I felt nothing at all last week and this week I feel pain...did you experience that?

It sounds normal to me, I didn't have any port pain at all at first and then it got really sore.  Just try and take it easy, your still healing.  Hope it feels better.

I'm not to have breads until 6 weeks out.  I did have a fast food burger last week and had no prob.  I some restriction the first 3 days after I was home and then I "lost"it.  I could eat prob more than 1/2 cup (did so on 2 occ.) Yesterday and today I actually felt some restriction - thank God for that I was beginning to wonder if I was even banded!

I believe you're currently experiencing "bander's hell"..... that time period between getting banded, and getting your first fill. Most surgeons do not do an initial fill, so you're not going to notice much restriction at all until you start getting fills. Just hang in there and drink lots of fluids!!! :)

I experienced the exact same thing.... I didn't think they'd actually banded me, either... LOL. But as soon as I got my first fill (4cc's).... I could definitely tell the difference!!
