Advice about tightness

I am three weeks plus a few days out of surgery and have not had a fill yet. However, started last night, I have had a tight feeling in my chest and I have had a hard time eating. I can swallow and keep food down without any problem, but I feel a tightness when I swallow. It sort of feels like gas but it doesn't go away.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I am almost 6 weeks out from my surgery date and I have not experienced that.  Why don't you give your Dr. a call and ask the question?  Have you tried using Gas-X or Bean-O...or something similar?

My mantra:  Each day is an new opportunity to be happier, healthier and better than the day before.  I will live each day with enthusiam and be thankful for the many blessings that surround me. I will do my best to pay it forward whenever possible

I get that sometimes too.  It's a pain in the butt.  Are you at TOM?  Lots of women say they have this extra tightness around that time.  I'd ask the Dr.  Sorry I have no real help for you.  :(

Thanks to both of you. It is not actually TOM right now. It seems to feel a bit better today so I am just sticking to soft food and liquids. I'm guessing as long as I can keep food down then I am not stuck so it is probably not too much to worry about.

Mine all most feels like heartburn when it hits, but I don't think that it is.  I don't know.  I forget to ask my Dr. last week.  You should bring it up and see what he says.  I need to too at Decembers appt.  Glad your feeling better though!!

I just called the doctor's office and the woman there told me just to try to chew more and take smaller bites and don't eat too late at night, but not to worry about it.

Thank you!

During that initial time right after surgery there is a lot of inflammation in the area just because of the surgery.  I know I felt the same way for the first 4-6 weeks, but I promise it does get easier.  Once you finish healing all that should go away and should happen a whole lot less frequently.

<-------Pharmacist  I can answer general questions, but for more serious questions always ask your surgeon.
