Pre surgery setback

Guy,

I always strongly suggest pre-ops patients to attend support groups and ASK TONS OF QUESTION from folks who are LIVING IT !! Also don't be afraid to ask about issues they have - but don't let that scare you off.

Great that you will see the nutritionists so you can ask about good and bad carbs. It could be 50 carbs period, no matter what, but best to ask.

Here is my take on exercise - IT'S IMPORTANT .. but in the beginning do the "simple" exercises such as: park at the further point in the store parking lot then walk to the front door; walk up 1 flight of stairs; walk 1/4 of the way down the block and back and then increase 1/4 of a block a day; get up and change the TV channel MANUALLY .. once you have lost enough weight and/or feel strong enough, then UP it !!
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

Tom,

Thanks,

Of course when I got to the supermarket the nutritionist had canceled due to flu.
Just kinda how my week has been going.  To top it off, I thought I was being real smart yesterday, at lunchtime I took a brisk walk around my office neighborhood in dress shoes.  Of course I thought nothing of it, did 20 minutes felt great , returned to office and by end of day had severe heel pain which has me limping today.  Man I just can't catch a break this week.  There goes my exercise challenge this month.

Tomorrow is the Laparascopic surgery that my Dr preforms to check for stomach & esophagus related complications pre surgery.  I'm sure it will go fine, outpatient surgery.  Wish me luck

Again thanks for being there for me, I really appreciate it and it's nice to get a man's perspective since we seem to be outnumbered plenty or Guy's just don't come to these sites.

How do I get to put a new weight on the tracker scale, I'm down a few pouns and wanted to show it on the ticker (Help)

Hey Guy,

Yeah you and I seem to have the same kind of luck. I always tell people I am a cross between Charlie Brown and Ziggy (and I look like them too).

You may want to ask your Doctor your carb question, or just call the Nutritionists. It's only 1 question.

As for weight tracking, you mean on the OH site, just enter your current weight, and it takes it automatically (I think)
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Listen to Tom!!!  :D  He's full of good advice.  This is a setback and a frustrating one, but one that you will handle and will most likely be much stronger from doing.  I think obesity can cause depression on some level, so I think most are depressed.

Hopefully you will get the tools you need to get to the surgey and be successful.  I know if you came this far, you can do it.

HANG IN THERE and go get that 2nd opinon.  :)
