I'm wondering if I can do the Atkins diet after I finish this liguid diet post surgery. I know that meats will have a hard time going down but tuna and baked fish were listed as good food choices post LD and if so has anyone went that route and saw great weight loss along with exercise?

I would say most definitely. I actually do better if I stay away from a lot of carbs. Those diets focus on higher protein and lower carbs, and that's what we are supposed to make sure we get is plenty of protein.

Good luck to you!

My first bit of advice: Talk to your Doctor or Nutritionists first before choosing any eating plan. You may have a condition that would prevent one type of plan.

2nd advice: While we're suppose to eat a "protein" enriched diet, remember you will need to consume the required about of liquid daily. A high protein diet works on the kidneys and liver - hence the reason to keep "them working with the liquids".

Final advice: remember, we all need some fats and/or carbs in our diets. Do not avoid them completely.

Good Luck on your Journey !!

It seems to me that the diet prescribed  by my nutritionist is very similar to Atkins or South Beach - high protein, low carb, lots of veggies (but not starchy veggies).  It works for me!

I did not get on any other programs after the band. You can only eat 1/2 to 1 cup of food at meal, so it's not hard to manage. I think that the Atkins diet will just confuse you.

You know something, you've got a good point and they tell us to eat proteins first so that helps too.
