i am 5 weeks post op and am having trouble with feeling hungry. i try to wait a good 4-5 hours after eating for the next meal. its like all of a sudden i am hungry. i get a fill on the 23rd of October i hope this slows down the hungry feeling. i have not gained any weight and it is coming off slow which i am happy about. but i am wanting some different foods. i dont eat any pasta, rice, soups, white potatoes, red meats. no vegetables except sweet potatoes, asparagus. only because my dr advises me not to have any of the other vegetables until go back for my 6 1/2 week check up? i do eat pears, peaches, applesauce, any body have any ideas?

How about:

Greek Yogurt
SF Pudding
Ground Turkey or Ground Chicken made into meat patties and grilled or baked?
Scrambled Eggs with some Laughing Cow LF Cheese
Fat-free Chicken Broth, Veggie Broth or Beef Broth

I had soups right away. Not sure why you can't, but they were the most satisfying of anything because they were warm and yummy.

Also ate cooked, mashed carrots and mashed cauliflower. Have stayed away from asparagus only because I was told they are very fibrous and those fibers can form a ball? Anyway, cream of asparagus soup works in that case.

The Imagine Brand soup sold at King's supermarkets is very low in fat and everything else. Its organic, some are low sodium, low fat, and really good. Several flavors as well.

Hope that helps.

Eat chunky foods not mushy foods.  This will help you feel full longer.  Eat protein first then low carb veggies. That will help satisfy you and keep you full longer.  Eat very small amounts of carbs.  You have enough carbs stored in your body.  That's what you want to lose.  Use your will power until you have your first or second or possibly third fill.  If you must snack, snack on protein like nuts or cheese.  The band is a tool, not magic.  It works.  Good luck.

I can't believe  you are eating aspauragus!  I am almost six months post-op and I still can't eat it.  No matter how much I chew it, it never gets to the point where it doesn't get stuck.  I recommend refried beans.  They were not a favorite food of mine at all (still aren't) but they are protein packed and thick enough to be very satisfying.  You may able want to give oatmeal a try.  Anything warm and moist is a great band-friendly food.  Also I know that some people have trouble with eggs but scrambled eggs and hard-boiled then chopped eggs with a little light mayo were both great foods for me in the first few months.
If nature had intended our skeletons to be visible, it would have put them on the outside of our bodies.
