Prednisone, grazing, and seasonal allergy treatment advice?

Every year around this time I have terrible problems with allergies.  Like clockwork I got a sinus infection and severe bronchitis as soon as the leaves started to fall off the trees.  And as usual I had to go on strong antibiotics, have a Decadron shot, and take a pack of Prednisone.  Now I'm going through the regular side effects from the steroids like being restless but have no energy.

I'm also having a big dose of grazing and the munchies.  Last year I gained about 12 lbs in 2 months during prolonged steroid treatment  for my respiratory and sinus infections.  I don't want to go down this path again and trying to control the increased appetite.  But today I found myself eating little dabs of this and that all day long.  I'm also trying to keep the sodium down and potassium up because I know these can be issues with steroids.

Just wondering if anyone else has faced steroid side effects like increased appetite after being banded.  Any suggestion on getting past it?

Also - anyone have good homeopathic treatments for seasonal allergies?  I'm kinda scared of the neti pot but if you've tried it with good results - let me know.  I'm eager for a new treatment that doesn't include pharmaceuticals!
Thanks!

I just went through this. The only way I had to combat the effects of the prednisone was to keep writing down everything I ate. That was about the only way I could keep myself sane. Prednisone is a tough drug to be on. I'm still dealing with the side effects and I've been off of it for a number of weeks. Hang in there!

Thanks for the support!  It really is tough.  I hope you are done with the side effects soon and that you're feeling better!  I tracked everything today and was surprised that I didn't do half as bad as i thought I might.  You're right - keeping myself honest is a good way to deal - lol!

When I was prescribed prednisone I only took one each day since I mostly have trouble breathing overnight.  There is no way I could take the full dosage every day w/out having the nasty side effects.
