restriction - FINALLY!!
i have 8cc i my 9cc band and i have great restriction.....i cant get thru even half of a lean cuizine....no you did not over do it, but now you know what to look for.it is a learning curve to say the least.
i get a runny nose or a hiccup/burp to tell me to stop. if i do go past that then i am stuck...but i have learned to stop when my body says "don't do it"
the mouth watering thing is really weird too...it's like spit will not even go down.just do smaller portions...the full lean meals are to big for me so it may be for you too.
lori
Learning curve is right! This morning I bought a breakfast burrito. I figured I'd eat half and all would be ok. I ate it. I chewed well - or so I thought. Apparently my band doesn't like tortillas or eggs. I'm eatting crackers this afternoon. Tonight I'll eat some protein. I heard about this but without restriction I could eat anything. Guess I'll have to be careful and try some things at home before I embarass myself out to dinner.
Sara,
I am 2-weeks post-op and can eat solid foods. I understand that is not the norm, but it has allowed me to do some experimenting. At this time, my band has no fluid yet.
I have overdone it probably twice in my experimenting. It led to terrible pressure near my lower chest. I had to wait about 45 minuetes before the food finally went down and the pain subsided.
Here is what I have learned and will apply immeddiately following any band adjustment...
Eat a very small portion, then stop and wait at least 15 minuetes before eating any more. This should give the food ample time to reach the band and help you make a educated decision on whether you should continue to eat. Also, pay attention to what type of food you ate when you experianced pain. The type of food may be the cause of the nausea as well. Avoid in future if possible.
Good luck,
Mark
