Feeling frustrated...
I had my surgery on 7/21/09
When I started this process (the start of my NSWL) I was at 331lbs. On 6/11/09 I weighed 305lbs and the day of my surgery I was at 295lbs. Since having surgery I've only lost 3lbs and I'm feeling very frustrated.
I don't feel any different than I did before surgery. If I didn't stop myself I could eat just as much as before. The only difference I have noticed is that I don't really have that "clock" going off telling me I'm hungry - I eat because I know I need to.
Is this normal? I realize that my band isn't restricted and I'm hoping that this will all change once I have my first fill.
I guess I just needed to vent...I'm frustrated. :(

Yes this is very normal. During this healing stage some people take longer to heal thus feeling some restriction, but it isnt restriction it is from the swelling. Others, like yourself don't swell so much. It seems the band is helping since ur "clock" isnt going off. Soon you will get ur fill and god willing u will get restriction. The hardest part for me was learning the differnce between head hungry and real tummy hunger.
You are doing great .. Congrats on ur journey.

I've heard some people refer to this time period between surgery and first fill as "bandster hell".
Have you been cleared for exercise yet? Maybe when you can start moving a little more, and eating more than mostly protein shakes, your body will respond by dropping more weight. That's what happened to me. Hang in there.

Well -- yes, you are normal.
Don't expect that your first fill will change this completely.
It can take several fills to get to 'good restriction' -- although, I did notice a difference following my first fill.
I got the fill (at 4 weeks post op) and for 2 weeks, my appetite was very much 'dimmed' --- but the 3rd week after the fill, I felt hungry all the time.
I went back for fill number 2 (2 weeks tomorrow) and have felt no real hunger -- unless I wait too long to eat. I go back for my 3rd fill next Tuesday --- so, I have to really pay attention this week, and make sure that if my hunger re-appears, that I continue to monitor my calories -- and journal my food while I wait for the next one.
