Chicken etc
I am 2 and 1/2 weeks post op with no pain or issues. Just wanted to know...is it normal to be able to eat mostly anything with no problems? (texture wise I mean). I recently tried chicken, chewed well, digested with no problem....along with anything else i've tried. No problems. I keep hearing how people have problems with certain foods like chicken, bread etc (i haven't tried bread...no need really) Is it this easy because I have not yet had my first fill? Anyone else have no limitations prior to fill then find moreso afterwards?

Kelly -- at this point, you have no restriction (you may have a little swelling left over from the surgery, but may not).
Because of that -- you should actually be able to eat anything that you ate pre-op.
As you get your fills, and acquire restriction, you may find that some things are harder to eat than others.
I have had 2 fills -- if I eat carefully, take small bites and chew well, I can eat chicken, pork, shellfish, beef, fish, etc.
This past week, I ate some chicken (breast that was re-heated from the night before) that was dry -- and I took too big a bite -- and it got stuck.
Now -- my doc says that because the Realize Band is softer than the Allergan, that many foods go down easier ----
As I get each fill, my doctor has me drink liquids for a day, then 1 day of mushies, and then 'progress to regular food as tolerated' -- he also says that "what you can eat one day, you may not be able to eat the next day' ----- always progress slowly and carefully.

Hi Kelly,
You are perfectly normal and it sounds like you are healing very well. Until you start getting restriction, you will be able to eat pretty much anything. This is when you have to be really diligent with watching your food choices.
I had no major texture issues either. In fact, with almost 8ccs, I can still eat thick crust pizza without a problem (not that I choose to eat it that often).
