Lap Band vs Realize Band

Sorry for the play on words, but I didn't realize there were two types of bands. Does anyone know the difference between the two? What makes one any better than the other?

If your considering a band, I'd also talk to your surgeon to see which one they prefer to use.  In my surgeon's case he almost exclusively uses the realize band -  but will do the lapband if the patient requests it.  

I know I was presented both options, but my surgeon picked the best one for my body.

i was told that the ports are different. with the lap band they outside of the port is rubber, with the realize band its like plastic so the chances of the dr missing during the fill and causing a leak is reduced. that was enough to sell me on it lol whatever you choose, good luck!
