Hi all,

I'm so grateful for this board!  My surgery was on Tuesday - today is my first "good day".  I have been drinking liquids since Monday - my question is - is it okay for me to just have a little skim milk now or Instant Breakfast?  The doctor's office gave us guidelines, but I'm about going crazy right now.  Please help!    I've been tolerating everything okay - but I don't know if I'm allowed to move onto full liquids yet!

Thanks!

All surgeons have different requirements, for instance my doctor requires that his patients are on full liquids for four weeks after surgery (I am going on week 3 this monday).  But ,as far as when to progress from clear liquids to full, from what I have read and told by my surgeon, your on clear liquids two days prior to surgery and two days after surgery.  After those two days move on to full liquids (cream soup, skim milk, boost, etc.).... Hope this helps.

The journey begins......Congrats on a successful surgery. Are you lactose intolerent?(for GAS purposes it might not be a good idea)  You should be able to use skim milk with your protein powder... Hang in there!  Check your discharge paperwork. mines was specific to not move to full liquids until after id seen my doctor. You stomach may be swollen near the band and too tight  for full liquids to flow thruough.. Try drinking warm tea. It might control the hunger pains...Hope this helps....

praying for comfort and peace.....

My doctor put me on full liquids for 2 weeks then 2 weeks of pureed then 2 weeks soft foods then transition to regular I think this is also recommended  for the Realize band per their material I have read.

. Did your doc  or nut give you instructions? I would call tomorrow if I'm not sure. You should be drinking protein supplements too.

My list of full liquids:

Skim milk
Blue Bunny smoothies
Dannon light and fit smoothie
Strained and Thinned cream soups or Tomato soup
