Move over!!!
6-25-09 is the beginning of the rest of my life and I will be smaller from now on! I was banded at the Barix clinic in Ypsilanti MI yesterday and am feeling Great. At my pat I weighed 351 lbs and yesterday before surgery I weighed in at 333.2 pounds that is 18 lbs that will never be back. I could scream from the roof top about how excited I am. Everyone at the hospital were so caring and non judgmental it was the best experience I have ever had. I t makes a difference when you go to a place that specializes in bariatric surgery. The doctor told my wife he would be out to talk to her 45 mins after they took me in. Well 2 hrs later he came out and my wife was beside herself and said he had problems.
First they tried to intubate (stick a tube in my lungs) and they couldn't initially they had to us a bronchoscope to visualize my vocal cords . He told her that I aspirated a brown fluid from my stomach and may have to spend the night depending on my breathing. He asked if I drank after mid and she said no only a sip for meds. I was instructed to take. Shelly (my wife) didn't know that they had me drink a small cup of something to settle my stomach at 6:30 while I was being prep for surgery.I am sure I scared the crap out of them when I aspirated LOL.
He then said that he had to cut thru alot of scar tissue from may gall bladder surgery that I had in 1990 and that I had a lot of fat deposit around my stomach. Imagine that! A 333.2 lbs man had fat around his stomach LOL.
I got home about 6 :00 pm last night and really feel great considering I have 5 stab wounds. I was able to sleep in my own bed with very little discomfort. Well I just wanted to let you guys know that I appreciate all your prayers because the out come could have been much different. The anesthesiologist wrote aletter to me stating that he had difficulties intubating me and in no time was I in danger because the were using ventilation mask to breathe for me. Well that is all for now thanks again for the prayers....Terry
