I knew I wanted the realize band before I met with my surgeon and then when I met with him I made it definite!! Good luck when you meet with your surgeon and do research on both of the bands!! That is exactly what I did and I just happened to like the Realize band better.   Some people like LapBand but its a personal choice!! And my doctor told me he doesn't give advice on which surgery one should choose.  He is there as a support in making the decision but inevitably it is our decision.  Good luck!! Keep us updated on what you choose!!!

Hey there...I am having the realize band done on July 7th... I did a LOT of research and I am very happy with my choice. My doctor offers the Lapband and the Realize band and also does the bypass and now the sleeve.
The surgeons office as a whole is making the switch to the Realize band. I asked him about why they choose to do this. his BIG thing was the follow up care.
He liked the fact that their website brings the patients and the doctors together. They get emails to their office monthy about how we are doing. There is nothing else out there like this. Accountability is such a huge part of the 'BIG PICTURE" and it was nice to hear that my surgeon agrees.
Good luck with your research!
Take Care...

Hi All!

I knew I wanted the band back in JAN!! I started my journey with a seminar 21 May
and have finished all the consults and am waiting for my 8 July appt!!

I already KNEW what I wanted as I researched before I went to a seminar.

I am looking forward to meeting with Dr. Snyder, the surgeon, and getting everything approved and moving on ahead with a date.

I liked that the band was ONE PIECE! I like that the band is anchored to the abdominal muscle and that there was less chance of leakage.  I like that it was tested and used for used in Europe.  I like that the band, no matter which one, does not involve cutting the intestines or stomach.

It is definitely a personal choice!  I feel great with my choice! Now, I want to get it done and join you all on the loser's bench!!

Cheers -
Megan

The bands are identical in design. The lapband has been around and is more well known ofcourse for over 20 years and is sister company with Imamed the surgical implant company famous for all the crazy medical devices. My surgeon actually despises the gastric band regardless of the brand he is all about Gastric bypass however when I met with him and discussed my wishes he supported them. Both are great bands and have a great support plan online. Either way it is a no loose situation.

Pick the one you want better.
