Hi, everyone. It feels like forever since I've posted on here, anyways; I'm just over 3 months out and I still LOVE my band. I have lost just over 70lbs including preop weight loss. I can't believe that it has been 3 months that just blows me away. I have gone from a 22/24 to a 14/16 which I don't remember the last time I wore that size. This has been the best decision I have ever made. I need to up my protein though, I dont think I'm getting enough. I can't stand the protein powders so does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get in enough protein? Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Brittnie - Congratulations! That seems like an amazing amount of weight to lose in 3 months. Almost 6 lbs. per week. Almost seems like RNY type of loss, rather than the band. I'm curious since I switched at the last minute from RNY to the Band and wanted that type of loss, but didn't expect it was possible, at least nor for me with the Band rather than RNY. May ask how many calories a day you are consuming and how much exercise you are doing? Congrats again and regards,
Matt

Hi Matt and thanks for replying. I lost 34lbs pre-op so its been about 36lbs since surgery. I'm not sure how many calories I consume daily because I have not been keeping track of it like I should be doing. I believe that its somewhere around 1000-1200 cal. I work at a hospital and wall for a living (or so it seems), I walk somewhere around 30 miles a week. I want to start swimming but haven't made time for that just yet and I try to do light weight lifting to help with my arms and exercise with a stablity ball for core exercises. Hope that helps, let me know if you have more questions

Wow, Brittnie -- congratulations!!

As far as the protein goes, here are my ideas --

do you like yogurt?  Greek yogurt has 11 - 16 grams of protein per 5 - 6 ounces (regular has 5 grams)

can you add dry-milk powder to some sugar-free pudding (1/3 cup of the dry added to 2 cups of regular milk) -- you can add 2 grams per serving of pudding

low-fat cheese sticks
deli meats -- thin sliced, wrapped around cheese stick and microwaved a little

turkey pepperoni 'chips' -- put them on a paper towel and microwave for 20 seconds, and watch them -- keep microwaving until they get crisp

do you drink coffee?  alot of people say that they add some protein powder to their milk -- then make a Latte out of it -- you can get almost 30 grams in a single latte, and the coffee helps mask the protein taste.

So glad to hear that you are doing so well with your band -- I am following in your footsteps.

I could not tolerate any of the protein shakes until I tried American Whey Double Dutch Chocolate. It has a very thin consistency and 2 scoops in a 16oz bottle of water is 40 grams of protein and 200 cals. Also ground turkey is very high in protein and makes a nice patty that can be spiced any way you like and is easy going down. I also have used it with taco seasoning and made like a chili bowl with FF sour cream, salsa and reduced fat shredded cheese. Yummy!

Congrats on your loss so far. My surgery was 3/17 and  I am down 40 lbs since then, total 56 since my first appointment with my surgeon (who is awesome!). I think the fitness center that my surgeon has for his patients and the exercise are really making a difference for me.

Again congrats and keep up the good work! Cynthia

Walmart has these Protien Bullets you can drink.  They have 23 grams of protein.  They are easy to use but I still have trouble remembering to take them.  I love my band though.  Its the best thing I have done so far in my life.  Good luck on finding protien suppements that you like.  I hate the shakes.
