I jus****ched a lapband surgery on you tube and the doctor used the "lapband" he sutured the stomach around the band. Do they also do this with the Realize band? I was wondering because I did not know they had to do that. Just curious.

i have the realize band and with this band there is an anchor that is in the muscle that is why the port incision is so tender...as for the band itself i know that i have a few stiches into the stomach to hold it in place.....i have had no problems with the band and luv it!

I cant fully answer your question but...

I believe the band is sutured to the stomach to help prevent slippage. I cant remember if I went over this with my surgeon or not now that Im thinking about it.

I believe the only real difference is that the Realize band's port has claws on it that attach to the abdominal wall where the Lap Band port is sutured as well.

Hope this helps...now im curious.

I, too, have the Realize Band and I asked my surgeon if my stomach is "sutured" around the band.  She told me that they all are...

My doctor told me the REalize band is sutured around the stomach to prevent slippage and the port site is anchord and sutured to the abdominal muscle to prevent it from turning over. hope this answers the question.  FArmgirl58

Hey Farmgirl58  thanks for the reply I guess I just missed that part when I was researching it.
BTW I'm an Alabama girl too, way up in northwest corner.
