Hi, so glad I found this message board.  Found another one that was mostly gastric  bypass and it kind of scared me.

I had surgery 5 days ago and so far, no real problems to report other than sheer paranoia that something might be wrong and I don't know it.

I'm not having any trouble getting liquids down at all but I'm just feel really weird.....not exactly light headed but just out of body kind of....and tired.

I think I'm still in shock I actually went through with this. I should have done more research because it all happened really fast.

They repaired a hernia during the surgery that I didn't know I had so I think that may be what's causing the pain spasms under my breast bones.

Anyway, nice to meet everyone and I'm looking forward to reading through the posts.

Any advice is appreciated!!!

Beth

Hi Beth,
My Realize band was done 2/17/09. You are right on track with your symtoms. It is a combination of the surgery, anesthesia and new adjustment your body is going through. I have lost 28 lbs and I am going for my first fill this week. Keep up the good work and stay in contact with your MD, and let me know how you are doing.

I definitely didn't feel normal for quite some time. I had my surgery 9/12/08 and I feel fine now, it just takes your body some time to figure out what the heck is going on. I have heard before that the anesthesia effects you for at least a week. And I know my first 2 weeks were no walk in the park... walk through hell maybe... it was bad, but then you start to figure out what to eat and what your body needs and then it's just like your life before surgery except w/ a new healthy body and a lot less weight to hold you back. It's hard work but it's worth it :)

OH, that makes me feel  better because I really liked my life before surgery. Just wanted to loose weight and never would make the time to keep it off.  Now I have too.  ;-)

How fast did this happen for you?  Did you have to do any programs pre-op.  Where I am at, we are required to do a 6 month program.
Good luck!

Beth,
I think you may be tired and weak cause you arent getting enough food. Try getting down your protien shakes.

Are you unable to get down any liquids at all? or just small sips/small amount at one time?

A little bit at once/small sips are normal. Being unable to get down anything is not and you should call your DR right away.

Keep walking, even if you dont feel like it...it will help. Keep sipping too. It will get better!
