Im nine days post op, everything was going really good, i felt good and then all of sudden i starting getting this really sharp pain where my port is. over the last couple days its gotten worse. its soo bad it takes my breath away, it feels like something is stabbing my muscle and pulling it. it happens when i stand, turn, walk or get up from laying down. whats weird is that all day i was fine then a couple hours ago i went to get up, it happened and i cant seem to get the muscle to relax. please help, im not sure if its normal or if there is something wrong. carolyn

lI am thinking that it is your port starting to heal into the muscle. The port is sewn or staples into the muscle so as it heals it is going to hurt.
If it continues to be painful, I would suggest calling your doctor.

the port incision is the most tender, it is because of the anchor hooks on the port itself it is imbebed into the muscle it will get better in time...mine took about a month before i t was totally gone, but every day it gets better....welcome to the bench...no lifting!

It does get better. Mine wasnt constant, but if I moved a certain way it felt like I  was being stabbed! LOL Yeah, its just the port healin after being attached to the muscle. I dont think I felt it the first few days because my movements were more limited.

I would agree to call your doc if it continues...rather, I hope he/she calls you back.

Let us know!

I'm so glad you posted this because my starting stabbing me tonight and I remembered reading your post so I did not panic....which is really good for me.

I'm still going to call tomorrow and check but it's the same pain I had in the beginning if I sneezed or coughed....and let me tell you what, it hurt so bad, I actually learned how to Not cough and I didn't know that was possible.  ;-)
