Question for anyone who plays a wind instrument

I play saxophone, and I wondered how soon after band surgery I could blow it again.  I figured it would be okay after the abdominal muscle soreness subsided.  Any other players out there who've been banded?

I am a trumpet player and my doc gave me the ok after about 1 and a half to 2 months.  I hesitated to push things because of all of the abdominal muscles used in playing a wind instrument.  I'm glad that I waited.  However, I did do some embouchure exercises so that my lips wouldn't be out of shape.

Thanks for the info. I've got a gig 2 months after surgery, so I can't wait longer than 1 month and still be in shape for it.  I'll ask him about it at my surgery Friday.
